Last week I mentioned lists and saved searches that can help you eliminate the noise of Twitter to an extent but every few months you should have a good ole spring-clean of the accounts you are following.
You know the ones…the ones who are spam (fake) and send you dodgy links, fill your timeline with irrelevant stuff or have only tweeted twice in their whole life.
If I am honest – I have not done a cleanup in a while (hence why I am following 1500+) but writing this post has reminded how quick and easy it can be. That’s my Thursday night sorted then.
But why? Surely I can just ignore these people on Twitter and carry on?
Yes you can but as the old Chinese proverb goes “Show me your friends and I’ll show you who you are” and this is so true when it comes to your digital profile. Remember your credibility is also based on your connections and so following the spam account MrEssex4Loving is not going to help with that.
Plenty of tools exist but I have listed 3 free ones (but some features require upgrade) that are user friendly and will help you clean up quite quickly. My personal favourite is ManageFlitter but they all do pretty much the same thing.
